LED: Light Emitting Diode signage is the closest thing to total energy efficiency in signage because there is virtually no heat loss when lit, so the operating cost is lower as you help save the environment. Operating on low voltage and with low energy consumption, LED's are the wave of the future.

HID: High Intensity Discharge signage is great for making waves when it comes to effective, outdoor illumination. New laws banning incandescent and mercury vapor lights make the transition to HID lights more urgent. HID lights are much more energy efficient than their predecessors: a 35-watt HID lamp produces up to 6 times as much light as an equivalent incandescent light source, which enhances the sign’s presence and improves peripheral vision because the features are so well lit, even at the edges.
